Find out how we raise our money!

The Big Collection

To all Big Collection volunteers,

Thank you for your patience as we have gathered the final figures and counted the last pennies to achieve our grand total. Drum roll please…

Together we have raised in the region of… £216,000!

This is a truly remarkable amount of money to be raised and we are delighted.

We want to say one more enormous thank you from the whole National Charity Partnership team for all your hard work to help us raise an incredible amount of money for such an important cause and making it the most successful Big Collection yet!

We are thrilled with the significant contribution we have been able to make to the Tesco National Charity Partnership. Half of the money raised will be spent directly on projects to help prevent Type 2 diabetes and heart and circulatory disease, read more about some of the projects we are funding here.

The remaining funds will be split equally between Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation to invest in their ongoing work. For Diabetes UK, this includes being able to provide more practical help to families, children and young adults to enable them to live better with type 1 diabetes and for the British Heart Foundation this includes investment in research into heart disease.

Every pound you raised over the weekend will make a big difference. £20 will help provide someone with counselling on Diabetes UK’s Careline service, a dedicated diabetes helpline for all people with diabetes, their friends, family, carers and healthcare professionals. £250 will provide a ‘free to hire’ Let’s Do This bicycle for communities most at risk of Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease to encourage them to be more physically active and £1000 will enable the British Heart Foundation to buy a brand new piece of equipment which can help them identify which proteins are important risk factors in coronary heart disease.

Thank you again for a wonderful weekend, your support and your feedback,

The Big Collection Team.
